Round 3 Match Report

Bay City Holden Frankston Reserves
CPLFNC 20.16 - 136 Def. Sandown 5.7 - 37
Best: R.Graham, S.Hollingsworth, J.Paul, C.Greenwood, S.Tantram, D.Cott

7 days earlier we sat dejected after our second loss on the trot and both losses we honestly believed we were very capable. This Saturday the feeling was one of elation as for the first time we put together I'd say in fairness 65 mins from a possible 80. The difference between winning and what it carries and brings is just huge and I couldn't be prouder of the win. Sandown at home Rd 3 and the nerves we're probably as big as they had been for me personally. They knocked us off at Sandown last year when we were going for 5 on the trot and I carried that feeling into today and so did the boys. I had a belief as we do each week that we would get it done but also realistic that this side had beaten us before when the momentum was every bit on our side and to never underestimate anyone. The side was at strength with all the numbers on the track depth is being created and it's a welcome addition. Cott, Jacob, and Corrie were welcome additions from the senior side and all made an impact that said they are wanting to go straight back to Seniors. The skippers both played good footy and stood up and some great efforts from CJ and DJ and Tani also who worked hard all day. Reece up forward was a shining light bagging 5 and will be a leader and a very big part of this clubs future, smart beyond his age and hands and a kick that is a blessing. All in all we had 22 people willing to do what it takes today and that's what's required. This week we face Hallam and it's games like these where we get a measure of who we are. If we want it we can take it it's our mindset and commitment to the task at hand. This is a very capable football side but it's just a matter of getting that balance and having the smarts to remember the small yet simple yet very important things. Congratulations boys on a great TEAM effort and remember we are only as good as our next week. Congrats to the seniors on the win also and having a beer and laughing and that feeling a successful day brings is what football clubs are about. Shout out also to Benny Guy who copped a big whack and nursed a jaw sat evening in hospital. Get better soon pal. See you on the park.

Riviera Hotel Seniors
CPLFNC 21.15 – 141 Def. Sandown 5.2 - 32
Best: M.Ryan, C.Marshall, P.Mauracher, S.Gartland, T.Neal, J.Kennedy

Saturday was a big opportunity for our players to redeem themselves after a very disappointing effort the week before. And redeem themselves they did with a massive 21.15 to 5.2 victory over Sandown. 8 changes to the team saw 4 players make their senior debut. Jk had the dream start taking a massive grab and kicking his first goal in senior footy he finished with a bag full, in what was a great debut. Also very impressive in their first games were Quilts & Darwin (who snagged 4 goals) The pleasing thing was everyone contributed and the back 6 was impenetrable and rebounded all day. The dynamic duo both worked tirelessly all day and set up plenty of forward moves for the mids who worked continuously throughout. The most pleasing thing for the day was the teamwork played in the last quarter where we shared the ball around and banged on 9 goals to finish really strongly. It was a great day for our club with a big win in the early game that set the tone for the day.
