Saturday saw us play on our home deck for the first time this year and there was certainly a buzz about the den. Round 2 clash against Lyndale who we beat comfortably twice last year but as the saying goes a year is a long time in footy. Our preparation was good and I thought from early on our minds were on the job. Lyndales inaccuracy kept us in the game early on and they really played a running, fast brand of football. Cliché maybe but it's true every time and we were unable to deliver 4 quarters from start to finish and only played good football in patches. Lyndale were terrific from start to finish and ran away from us in the end. We must be on the job from start to finish boys if we are going to really show what we have got and we have a good list it's just about coming together as one and ironing out the creases and growing as a unit. I thought we had some good players all day including Swinno who always tries hard and never stops, Darwin was terrific all day with his head over it and winning the hard footy, CJ was good in the ruck especially when carrying a severe injury and our skipper also flew the flag. Tani was terrific in his first game for the club also so it was good to see a bolstered midfield. We're close boys but we just have to have that balance and it has to be over 80 mins. At home again this week against Sandown and only you can show if you really want a win or not. See you all on the track and let’s bounce back.

After 2 solid training sessions with big numbers on the track, our boy fell very short of the mark. We were totally out played in nearly all facets of the game for 3 quarters. After a fairly even 10 minutes Lyndale proved too superior in the first half. The 3rd quarter saw some repeatability on the scoreboard where our boys looked equal to the task pilling on 4 goals, it was all to no avail as a committed Lyndale ran away with the game. It was an extremely disappointing effort after showing some real competitive spirit throughout our preseason program. The usual reliable players stood up again, our captain Mash was outstanding along with Aaron, Cam, Teal, Gage, Hutch & Ahol were great contributors.
We need to redeem ourselves this week against a very hungry Sandown. Let's get a win at home and start our season Boys.
All involved down at the Carrum Patterson Lakes Football Netball Club are still working hard on the rebuild of our lists and culture – footy and netball, not just for now but also for the long term. Although it’s been a rocky start on the scoreboards for the “season proper”, we have seen more than encouraging signs over the big pre-season. With only a couple of wins by 1 of our Netball Teams, our other teams have done it tough. But behind the scenes we know we are making real progress it will be only a matter of time until we get well deserved wins on the board!
We really want to commend our Business Partners, Members and Supporters for really getting around the club and our players so far – the encouragement has been phenomenal!
Remember this is just earliest stages of our journey and we need your help over the distance! We encourage all to join us down at the Den for a home game - second week in a row and really show your support to all of our fantastic competitors and enjoy all the festivities – competitions, raffles and live music etc! Pick up your membership pack!!
Note: Swing by Skye Footy Club on Sat morn @ 10.30 to cheer on our young champs of the future - CPL/Keysy 19’s battle Skye at Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve – Wedge Rd Carrum Downs.
We want to thank all our volunteers, without you the club would not exist and there would be no games. Special shout out to Michelle, Ev, Allison and Bobby the Burger King who had a massive day last week….and prep’n up to do it all again this week at our new look canteen!
Come on, Join the Pride - we at the CPLFNC are still welcoming new sponsors, players, members, volunteers....so get on board as the Lions are on the prowl in 2017!!
